Genghis Clan Featuring Mr. Catra, Dj Panko, Dudu Siri - Gatinha / Saudade De Ex / Quero Buceta EP 12" Vinyl

On Man Recordings From 2009

Original GERMAN Pressing. MINT Condition

Additional DescriptionMore Details
GENGHIS CLAN is the new project by a well known London based crew of producers which prefer to stay incognito. The CLAN is a multicultural project with audio and visual artists, that decided to name its tropical project after the famous Mongolian ruler and warlord, an early adopter and visionary of a transcultured world. The EP kicks off with „Gatinha“, which features baile funk don MC MR. CATRA on the microphone, the undisputed #1 male voice of baile funk. Performing on the Rio funk circuit since more than a decade, Catra is considered the James Brown of baile funk, with an on stage charisma and a vocal timbre that matches the live presence and vocal power of the godfather of funk, Mr. Dynamite, in his golden years. Catra's grunts, mixed with a samba lick and a heavy soca influenced beat makes „Gatinha“ a sizzling hot floor burner. "Saudade De Ex“ is a cheeky little funk track with a nasty bass and an irresistable beat. The pitched baile funk voice and the heavy beat added make this tune a perfect floor filler with a late peak that makes any crowd scream. "Quero Buceta“ feat. OYO's DE BRUCHO's DJ PANKO scratching to the beat, picks up the baile funk Miami Bass influence and adds a nasty bass and a oriental guitar – a bow down to the love affair of Brasil's Tropical movement to oriental music (remember Gal Costa's "Tuareg“?). Vocal contribution comes from Rio baile funk MC DUDU SIRI who states his love affair for the female sex organ. GENGHIS CLAN's debut release presents three hot baile funk and Brasil inspired tracks – let the rhythm hit 'em!!

Jesse Rose, Oliver $, Deize Tigrona - Funk Mundial #7 EP 12" Vinyl

On Man Recordings From 2008

Original GERMAN Pressing. MINT Condition

Additional DescriptionMore Details
For the seventh installment of the Funk Mundial series, Man Recordings is happy to present a volume that was entirely recorded and produced in Berlin - the hometown and base of Man Recordings. Jesse Rose resides in Berlin since 2006, producing music and running his label "Made To Play" from the German capitol, where he is DJing at his residency at "Berghain" club. Oliver $ is a native Berliner. Both Jesse and Oliver release on the „Made To Play“ label, so we are happy to present this Berlin coop release: „Made To Play Guest Starring On Man Recordings“. The London born, New-Berliner Jesse Rose is currently in high demand. Both as solo artist and together with his mates Dave "Switch" Taylor and Trevor Loveys Jesse Rose is responsible for the major kick in the ass that made UK house music fresh again. With tunes like "Tell Me Now" on Frontroom Recordings, the "Let's Start Again" EP on Dubsided or his anthemic "You're All Over My Head" this producer and DJ extraordinaire re-defined house music as we know it - and love it. His musical open mindedness made him a top candidate in the Funk Mundial series since its inception, so we are very proud to present Jesse Rose's first Man Recordings release. For his Funk Mundial contribution, Jesse Rose teamed up with the major female voice in baile funk, Deize Tigrona. Already a collaboration-choice for producers like Diplo or Buraka Som Sistema, the female MC queen from Rio De Janeiro is famous for her vocal and stylistic versatility and was a first pick for Jesse on his take on the Brazilian music revolution called baile funk. When stopping by in Berlin on her summer European tour 2008 she recorded "Toca Pra Mim" („Play It For Me“) exclusively for Jesse. With his Funk Munidal production Jesse Rose surprises with a highly percussive, mid tempo track that is cool in atmosphere and heavy in bass. Far from the over exposed, chlicheed fidget-formula which dominates UK club land in 2008, Jesse returns to his roots and presents a highly seductive, deep floor filler which celebrates the percussion culture of Brazil en pair with one of Brazil's hottest voices. The flipside sees the hot and upcoming homegrown Berlin talent Oliver $. The red haired studio crack is one of the few Berlin musical exceptions to the minimal reign of the German metropolis – he's quiet possibly is the only German fidget house producer that can be taken seriously. His productions on Berlin's Grand Petrol Recordings caught the attention of Jesse Rose and soon established a artistic relationship between the two, followed by Oliver $ assistant engineering some of Jesse Rose's most famous remixes, such as Underworld's „Keep It Simple". On Mr. Dollar's take on baile funk, the twentysomething producer demonstrates the muscular, booty shaking edge of his sound - it's bouncing without the bling, it's heavy on bass without a bassline and most of all it's jacking, like there's no tomorrow.

Frikstailers, El Remolon, Chancha Via Circuito, Douster - Funk Mundial #8 12" Vinyl

On Man Recordings From 2009

Original GERMAN Pressing. MINT Condition

Additional DescriptionMore Details
For its 8th installment, the Funk Mundial series temporarily moves to Buenos Aires, Argentinia to present what is quite possibly the first ever Baile Funk Cumbia record to be released. Yes, we're talking about a world premiere here: The two music styles that recently put South America on the DJ radar again, are melting together in Funk Mundial #8: Baile Funk meets Cumbia. For this volume, four of the hottest producers of Buenos Aires digi-cumbia label ZZK teamed up with various Baile Funk Mcs from Rio De Janeiro. ZZK is to cumbia what Man Recordings is to baile funk – mixing up one raw, regional music style with the best of various genres to create a unique new sound. Founded as a label in 2008, ZZK broke internationally with their mixtapes, in which cumbia – the traditional pan-latin-american dancehall sound – was mixed up with reggaeton, hip hop and various forms of bass music. Recently, the label released its first compilation and full artist albums. Funk Mundial #8 kicks off with Frikstailers from Cordoba, two young producers, that became internationally known for their twisted and glitchy, yet dope take on cumbia. Long time fans of baile funk, they were happy to collaborate with MC Maiquinho, who led Rio De Janeiro's funk charts in 2008 with the track „Hey Hey“. Their joint track „To Com Saudade“, brings cumbia, it's cheap and noisy electronic melodies together with the MC power of Rio Funk Mcing. Frikstailers are followed by El Remolón, who hails from Buenos Aires and is one of the big whizkids in the digital cumbia revolution. His collaboration brings MC Marina from Rio De Janeiro en pair with the Autotune effect resulting in the light and irie „Vem Que Tem“. Track three is by Douster and is a hip shaking cumbia-baile-reggaeton track „Puta Que Paria“ features Rio based MC Dandão, who was already featured in the legedary „Soca Ali Baba“ on Funk Mundial #3 by Crookers. The EP closes with a great, deep contribution by Chancha Via Circuito, another young talent from the ZZK camp. With his feature of MC Pretinho on „Buçetão“ (meaning „Pussy“) he created a stunning tune that is soulful in vybe, explicit in lyrcis and fresh with a sharp half-time double-time rhythm architecture that breaks up the slow mo cumbia groove into a rocking stomper. Funk Mundial #8: A stunning new release in the acclaimed Man Recordings series, presenting the first ever Cumbia-Baile Funk blends on vinyl. And at the same time it's one of the first ever Brazilian-Argentinan music cooperation in today's electronic music. Maybe the sound of both Rio and Buenos Aires, two of South America's prime cities had to move to a Berlin label first, to come together?

Edu K - Hot Mama 12" Vinyl

On Man Recordings From 2006, Limited Edition On Pink Vinyl

Original GERMAN Pressing. MINT Condition

Additional DescriptionMore Details
Reading the tracklist of EDU K's album „Frenétiko“, it's soon clear that this man truely loves women. Tracks like „Sex-O-Matic“, „Sexxxy“, „Quero Ser Ator Porno“ (If I could be Porn actor) and last but not least „Hot Mama“ all cavalierly illustrate: Edu K's heart beats for all things female. „Hot Mama, won't you shake your hips for me?“ asks Edu in the opening line of his sunshine tune, and it's quite obvious that few women would decline. Accompanied by a Cuban piano line, Spanish vocal licks, a bouncy electro beat and an irresistable fuzzy bass line, Edu mashs the Carribean with Miami bass, Brazil with New York in a unique way. The four remixes included on the „Hot Mama“ 12“ do equal cross territorial blendings. The A-Side kicks off with the Sinden remix. Call it fidgit house, minimal bassism - this track reveberates many musical flavours in a fresh uptempo groove. But most of all, it's damn funky. The remix is produced by London's Graeme Sinden, one half of top remix team A.Brucker & Sinden, who's remix list includes Lady Sovereign, Mary J Blige and most recently released the infamous Din Da Da EP on Counterfeet. Sinden has released tracks on Loungin' Records, and is a long time collaborator of Dave „Solid Groove/Switch“ Taylor (who's also behind the pseudonym A.Brucker). The Bonde Do Role remix comes in true Brazilian baile funk stylee. Remixed by one of Brazil's hottest new bands (now signed to Diplo's Mad Decent label), Bonde Do Role have added a Tamborzao beat and shaped „Hot Mama“ into a favela compatible track, ready to blast the real big speakers. Zuzuku and Blonde Phantom are hot and upcoming remix talens from NY's Bronx. Their reggae and dancehall influenced mashups and remixes on their MySpace site were so conving that Edu K asked the duo to rework „Hot Mama“. With a nice (and very familiar) bass lick, Zuzuku and Blonde Phantom poured the Cuban bass track into a skanking tune in original JA fashion. EDU K's own „Jamekian“ remix starts with a dancehall influenced riddim and breaks down into an uprising, jacking house groove, perfect for DJ mixing from downbeat to uptempo grooves. Four remixes and a crowd pleasing original mix - the „Hot Mama“ EP is another essential vinyl by EDU K that will surely find it's steady remain on many DJs playlists.

Edu K Feat. Deize Tigrona - Sex-O-Matic 12" Vinyl

On Man Recordings From 2006

Original GERMAN Pressing. MINT Condition

Additional DescriptionMore Details
Okay, we know that much of the Brazilian Baile Funk lyricism is mostly about getting laid. Yes, Rio de Janeiro's 21st century beat music is nothing but a s-thing. Consequently, our chief erotoman Edu K named his new track "Sex-O-Matic". It features the mighty Deize Tigrona on the mic, one of Rio de Janeiro's top female Mcs, notorious for her ability to both sing the subtlest jazz tunes as well as the most lust dripping slack lyrics. As a resident of the infamous Rio community, the "City Of God" (yes, the one from the movie), Deize Tigronas MC skills were forged in the fires of hundreds of funk balls all across Rio over the years. In her first time collab with Edu she delivers full steam: "You know what I only want? Sex!" she shouts in Portugese. And of course, we do believe her. "Sex-O-Matic" is the second release by Edu K on Man Recordings and another track from his upcoming album "Frenétiko" (out March 22nd, 2006). Edu has made the scene in Brasil since the early 90s in punk, metal and funk. When his seminal baile funk track "Popozuda Rock n'Roll" was released in Europe, it soon became a underground hit. Since singing with Man Recordings, he has been remixed by Diplo and DJ Sandrinho and has been dropped by the Rio godfather DJ Marlboro. It's quite likely that with the remixes by London's Solid Groove, as well as Edu's own reggaeton mix, and two mixes by some of Rio's top baile funk DJs the word about the "K" will spread much further. Solid Groove from London, a.k.a. Dave Taylor, a.k.a. Switch is currently one of the hottest remixer in the world of electronic music. His remix is a storming minimalist rave monster in his trademark "fidgit" style. Yeah, it's "fresh!" as the sample goes: A simple bassdrum, Deize's chopped-up voice and a gnarly synth hook will guarantee hands up in the air on dancefloors around the globe. Edu K's Reggaeton Remix mounts the energetic funk vibe on a reggaeton inspired skank-track. For those about to shake your booty! DJ Mavi + DJ Sany, two of Rio de Janeiro's most wanted DJs and producers, provide a guitar swirling, block rocking baile funk mix. DJ Edgar, the main DJ and producer behind Rio de Janeiro's MC star Mr. Catra provides another baile funk mix, which focusses less on guitars but more on beats. Nevertheless, it calls for booty time. A storming, butt shaking original, four burning remixes – "Sex-O-Matic" will cause some serious bump n'grind bass pogo dancing!

#9 in the globe trotting Funk Mundial series on Man Recordings brings Rio Baile Funk MCing to Paris. Yes, for our ninth installment it's time for a temporary alignment with the new French sound, embodied by Feadz, courtesy of Ed Banger records. Feadz, a.k.a. Fabien Pienta is the mastermind and producer behind the internet hype sensation Uffie, for whom Feadz created club-anthems like „Pop The Glock“, „Ready To Uff“ or „Hot Chick“. Feadz is also a prolific solo-artist who has released on top labels Ed Banger and Ellen Alien's Bpitch Records amongst others, famous for his twisted take on electro funk, techno and various booty beats. Feadz – one of Europe's hottest producers, teaming up with 8 year old MC Wesley from Rio. A legendary match - exclusively on Berlin's Man Recordings.

Daniel Haaksman - Whos Afraid Of Rio EP 12" Vinyl

On Man Recordings From 2008

Original GERMAN Pressing. MINT Condition

Additional DescriptionMore Details
Who's Afraid Of Rio" is the debut EP by Man Recordings label boss Daniel Haaksman. It’s the latest culmination point in his steady, mad love affair for baile funk from Rio De Janeiro which started in 2003 when a friend returned from Brazil bringing Daniel a stack of CDs with funk from Rio. A virgin trip to Rio ensued in January 2004, in which Daniel explored the - then in Europe - unknown terrority called baile funk, resulting in genre defining compilation "Rio Baile Funk Favela Booty Beats" on his former label Essay Recordings in summer 2004. The CD received global acclaim and produced considerable sales, encouraring Daniel to leave Essay and establish his own label Man Recordings in 2005, where he decided to fully concentrate on baile funk – establishing Man Recordings as the sole label outside of Brazil consistently and exclusively focussing on baile funk. Since it inception, Man Recordings internationally broke artists such as Edu K, Deize Tigrona or MC Gringo and released the first productions and remixes by artists like Crookers, Diplo, Count+Sinden, Bonde Do Role, Sany Pitbull, DJ Edgar, DJ Amazing Clay, Joyce Muniz and many others. DANIEL HAAKSMAN After releasing the acclaimed „Rio Baile Funk Breaks“ (Man 024) turntablist album together with DJ Sandrinho and DJ Beware in spring 2008, the Berlin based DJ and producer now proudly releases four baile funk inspired club bangers on his „Who's Afraid Of Rio?“ EP. Haaksman decided to name his debut EP „Who's Afraid Of Rio?“ as a bow down to the city and its rich music culture. He asks „Who's Afraid of Rio?“ as he certainly isn’t – returning to the sugarloaf city twice a year since his first visit, attending numerous bailes in both the favelas and the regular neighbourhoods, establishing a steady contact and friendship with MCs, producers and DJs from Rio De Janeiro, with whom he collaborated on various projects and releases. "Who's Afraid of Rio?" feat MC Jennifer, is the opening track, mixing up the beatbox sound of baile funk don Mr.Catra with a nasty snyth bassline, fitting to shake any dancefloor instantly. MC Jennifer is a well known baile funk song writer, who also wrote „Tamborzuda“ for MC Thiaguinho, which was produced by Count+Sinden for Man Recordings. MC JENNIFER Track two is „Parolar De Veso“ featuring the infamous SD Boyz who have provided baile funk hits such as "Popozuda Do Planeta" or „Cerol No Mão“, the latter a track which was also featured on the first „Rio Baile Funk Favela Booty Beats“ compilation. With a dancehall meets ghetto-tec beat, a mad synth bassline and the funky rhymes of the SD Boys „Parolar De Veso“ will cause mayhem on numerous Non-Brazilian bailes. Track 3 is „Senta Senta“ a track that elegantly fuses baile funk with old school latin house beats and a fidget house breakdown. Think of the early Kenny Dope or Todd Terry visiting a baile funk party in one of Rio´s favelas. Finally, "Jogo Do Bilhar" („Playing Billiards“) featuring MC Betta, a hot young female MC from Rio’s North Zone, fusing Brazilian booty bounce with Euro crunk and dope science. Four DJ friendly club tracks that mix the best of baile funk with Euroland ghetto club sounds. The „Who´s Afraid Of Rio?“ EP by Daniel Haaksman quite likely will ignite another wave of passion for the hot, booty shaking music of Rio.

Following the acclaimed "Who´s Afraid Of Rio?" EP, Man Recordings proudly presents Daniel Haaksman's 2nd artist release - the "Gostoso EP". The mad beats from Brasil's tropical megacity reverb on Haaksman's new EP in various hot new forms and sounds. DANIEL HAAKSMAN The EP kicks off with Haaksman bringing baile funk to the playground, introducing the 2nd generation of baile funk MCs. "Kid Conga“ features MC Miltinho on the mike, the son of baile funk legend MC Batata, singing a nursery rhyme over a heavy, tropical beat, accompanied by an arpeggio that is resembling North Eastern Brasilian forro melodies. „Senta Senta Mais Uma Vez" („Senta Senta once more“) is Haaksman's revisit to the anthemic „Senta Senta“ track from his „Who's Afraid Of Rio?“ EP which received massive DJ rotation all over the globe. In its revisited mix, the techno side of baile funk finds its shape. MC MILTINHO The B-Side of the EP opens with „Pobum Coco“, Haaksman's bowing down to Rio's love affair with Miami Bass. With a heavy 808 beat, „Pobum Coco“ tops off with a Tropicalia guitar line to get those big booties going. The polka-bass tune is followed by Rio's MC queen Tati Quebra Barraco, shouting out on "Jesus" over a twisted funk synth and 808 snare rolls. TATI QUEBRA BARRACO Finally, the EP gets perfectly rounded up with „Copabanana“, a booty edit of an legendary 1970s Brasilian disco classic, praising the beauty of Copacabana beach. „Copabana“ fuses both the classic Brasilian disco area as well as the aesthetic of the chopped „Montagem“, the instrumental, collage type tracks of baile funk. Crookers - Funk Mudial #3 EP 12" Vinyl

On Man Recordings From 2007

Original GERMAN Pressing. MINT Condition

Additional DescriptionMore Details
Since it’s inception in November 2006, the Man Recordings series Funk Mundial has pushed the boundaries of what is called „Brazilian Music“. The tracks by Stereotyp feat. EDU K + Joyce Muniz (Man 010) as well as Sinden+Count Of Monte Cristal feat. MC Thiaguinho (Man 013) illustrated that club music inspired by Brazilian music elements doesn’t necessarily have to feature a samba beat or a bossa nova reference to bring European, Japanese or North American dancefloors to the boil. Rather the opposite: The series is not about an emulation of Rio's hillside beats + bass culture but aims to establish a new hybrid musical form. It uses baile funk both as an energy as well as lyrical blueprint to develop a unique new style: The Funk Mundial style. Now Man Recordings is proud to present the #3 in the acclaimed series. It comes from the Milan, Italy based duo Crookers. This duo are certainly a hot ticket: With only two 12“es out (on On Da Brink Records UK, the other one on Italy's Big Sur), and a few remixes (Steellord) and mashups (Kelis) recorded, these two Italian B-Boys have stormed the hearts, blogs and dancefloors around the world with their crunky booty house sound.
