Record kicks is pleased to welcome on board early reggae new boss in town The Crabs Corporation. For their first single these four young lads from Buenos Aires have recruited nothing less then Jennie Matthias and Dave Barker. Jen was lead singers of the "Belle stars", during the 80s they scored a number of hits including smashing singles "sign of the time". David Barker needs no presentation, he's a truly living legend of Jamaican music. During the 60s he recorded for Duke Reid, Coxsone Dodd and Lee Perry. He recorded eith The Technics, Upsetters and The Wailers and scored hits like "Prisoner of Love", "Shocks of a Mighty" and "Spinning Wheel". Wicked jazz / rock LP from the UK with a disturbing cover and some dope grooves. Dope album from a UK black rock act recorded in 1970. A heavy jazz influence informs the mixture of funk soul and even afrobeat, with tracks that stop and start, change tempo and time signature halfway through and are all wrapped up in a hippyish attitude, and comes in a sleeve with a geezer in a knited gimp mask - weird. Don't worry about the lack of tracks on here, they are mostly nine minute epics that sound like three tracks squeezed into one. A great selection of grooves though that will appeal to fans of Cymande and all break hunters. Messed-up funky jazz from an obscure early 70s UK group - and an album that really lives up to its trippy cover! The tracks are all long and stretched out - with lots of organ, sax, and spaced out drums - and the overall style is a mix of dub-heavy funk, Afro jazz, and a bit of jazz rock jamming! There's a bit of vocals on the album, but overall most of the set is instrumental - in a really right on and progressive style that we totally love. This is the kind of record that always got passed by in the 80s when everyone was looking for hard James Brown grooves, but which is very much in fashion now with the blunted funky crowd. Cuts include "Hymn To Mother Earth", "Another Country", "Disillusioned Man", and "Mercy (Variation No. 1)".

Stone lost Latin funk! This is Candido's rarest -- and it's a killer batch of conga-heavy grooves, recorded in the late 60s for Solid State, and featuring a very groovy set of mod Latin arrangements by Joe Cain. The band features organ, guitar, bass, horns, and some upfront conga solos from Candido. Tracks are longer than usual for this sort of album -- and there's a lot of strange elements floating through the tracks, in a very nice way! Titles include "Thousand Finger Man", which has some especially firey conga breakdowns, plus "Jump Back", "Soul Limbo", "Tony's Theme (from Lady In Cement)", and "Come On Choo Choo Train".
